This case study is about the bioremediation of an oil water separator using Custom HC, a bioremediation product by Custom Biologicals. Custom HC contains petrophilic, oil loving, bacteria. These oil loving bacteria have been specifically selected for use in bioremediation because of their enhanced ability to metabolize oil, petrochemicals, BTEX components and hydrocarbons.
The addition of bacteria to wastewater is called bioaugmentation, a form of bioremediation. In this case Custom HC was added to the oil water separator.

Custom Results: TPH decreased to an average of 23.3 mg/L within a 90 day period. The separator has not been pumped as of one year after beginning the treatment. The facility is now in compliance with city codes. Therefore, the surcharges have been eliminated.
